Story of a City Dweller

This morning as I was getting dressed I looked out of the window and noticed some odd shadows on the house across the street. I looked closer and realized there was brick detailing on the house that I had never noticed in the 2 and a half years we’ve lived here.

It struck me then that little surprises abound in our City and that is why I love living here.

It sounds stupid, but discovering an overlooked architectural gem, finding a new detail on a house you’ve been past a million times, learning a new tidbit of fascinating history about your block, those little things are what make living in a city an experience vs. just existing someplace.

I needed to be reminded of what it is I love about St. Louis and, as silly as it sounds, a couple of bricks, the sun and some shadows conspired to remind me. Well played, universe.
