Patio With A View
The students at the new law school downtown are going to have some pretty amazing views. I think this may be one of my favorite downtown views…is that building in the foreground called the AT&T Building? Not sure, but I love it!

You Can’t Pick Your Neighbors
Sometimes the people I live around make it very hard for me to like them:

I realize I may be in the minority, but to me, the alley is sacred and as neighbors we do our part to keep it clean and not overfill the dumpsters. Clearly, I live around people who don’t share this belief. I have yard waste sitting in my yard because this dumpster was full and I didn’t want to do what someone above did yesterday. Social Contract.
Sigh…I’m turning into my father…
House Love
This house at 13th and Lafayette had me drooling the other day. Look at that AMAZING yellow brick on the front of this gorgeous house! Oh, if only I could buy and rehab it. Such a handsome building. This could be such a cozy, private street with the addition of some streetscaping and trees. Wow, just love that yellow brick.

Desolation
We’re using this image for a project I’m working on at work:

The amount of demolition that took place downtown during the mid part of last century is pretty amazing. A huge part of 4th street, gone. Pretty much everything surrounding the old Busch Stadium, gone. And while some of those empty lots have been built upon, it seems the southern part of downtown has been destined to feel kind of empty. Today, the massive joke, Ballpark Village, is continuing this sad story.
I don’t know, this picture just kind of took me by surprise. The 20th century was not kind to downtown St. Louis, and the 21st hasn’t been much better so far.
